Mad cool. And ill.

I like that I can be a hard ass with my students. I can hold them to higher standards. I can push them outside their comfort zone. I can be strict and bossy and seemingly uncool. But I know they know I care about them. And every once in a while, they even tell me they care about me. Cuz I'm cool. And I've got an ill phone.

I have friends that care about me, think I deserve good things, and whom I can talk to about not good things.

The sun came out

It rained for 3 days straight. Hurricany winds and fast pounding rain. For three days. Most of Boston was flooded and it was gross. But, the sun came out. It was nice today. And will be nice tomorrow. I like sunny spring time.

Devoted blogger, I am not

So I rediscovered this tonight while I was trying to subscribe to "Fed Up: The school lunch project", which is something I suppose is connected to what I'm grateful for since A: It's an interesting read about the sad state of affairs in our public school cafeterias, and B: I don't have to eat school lunch. But irregardless, I want to try this again. I should be spending more energy on the things in my life that make me happy, not the frustrations that consume me instead. As Liz said, I don't always have to have someone that annoys me, though I usually do. And if those people should be associated with work, as they often are, I definitely shouldn't be thinking about them on the weekend. So, without further ado, and without trying to capture 8 months of blessings, current things I'm grateful for include:

* The sunny, warm weather of this past week and how DST tonight promises more to come
* Actually enjoying several of my co-workers and just how much the JAS trio can make me laugh
* Despite the annoyance of weekly gradings and early Saturday morning wake-ups, I like my part-time teaching job because I get to teach and I'm a really, really good teacher. And I have fun doing it. I really hope there's more of that in my future...
* Spaceballs is a funny movie :)
