Over the river

We moved, we moved, we finally moved. Over the river and through the moon with with joy. I am very grateful for all the joys of our new home. I'm thankful to have the space to spread out and to buy new things and nice things. I am thankful for the quiet - SO thankful for the quiet. We've kept our windows open every night. I'm grateful to all the people who came out to help us move - especially to my family who drove out two hours each way to help. I was overcome with love for my favorite brother and favorite sister and favorite Georgie. I was so happy that our neighbor was friendly, that the rain held out til we finished, and that nothing was lost, broken, or left behind.

I feel blessed to be here now and to call this place a home.

Sick

I can't certainly be grateful for being sick... For having pneumonia in the middle of summer and accruing diagnostic fees and copay charges and driving around town trying to see varied doctors. Especially not grateful for having to sleep propped up in a chair. But, I am grateful for the fact that I CAN see doctors and get medication. I'm grateful my work is understanding and I have the flexibility to head out to appointments or leave early. I'm grateful that Robert brings me flowers and rubs my head and asks how I feel, even if I don't warrant the same amount of sympathy I'd like. I understand it's old. And I need to talk to my doctor about it, but I have the chance. And I will get better. And I can still do things like watch movies with Lauren and kayak the Cochituate and shop to move... And I'm also apparently hilarious running trainings on cough medicine. (Which I'm also grateful for - I'm a kick-ass workshop runner).

Time to get back being grateful regularly.

Floral Baby

Came home after the gym to bouquets of flowers in every room and Mushaboom on repeat. Thanks baby love. We took a walk to this park on the summit in Brookline overlooking Boston and it was so lovely :) (and the sushi I had brought with me, though a bitch to carry up that hill, was delicious).

Baby love

I also love my baby love and how he tries to make me happy when I am sad. Which I was, which is why I hadn't written a bit, which defeats the point of why I started this, which is why I am writing now. Baby love tries to make me laugh and gives me hugs. I like that.
I love my brother and sister. I love doing nice things for them - family things. This Easter, they came here and I made them baskets and I hid eggs and I made a dinner and dessert :). And I think they liked it all. I can't wait to be a mom and do mom things.

Mad cool. And ill.

I like that I can be a hard ass with my students. I can hold them to higher standards. I can push them outside their comfort zone. I can be strict and bossy and seemingly uncool. But I know they know I care about them. And every once in a while, they even tell me they care about me. Cuz I'm cool. And I've got an ill phone.

I have friends that care about me, think I deserve good things, and whom I can talk to about not good things.

The sun came out

It rained for 3 days straight. Hurricany winds and fast pounding rain. For three days. Most of Boston was flooded and it was gross. But, the sun came out. It was nice today. And will be nice tomorrow. I like sunny spring time.

Devoted blogger, I am not

So I rediscovered this tonight while I was trying to subscribe to "Fed Up: The school lunch project", which is something I suppose is connected to what I'm grateful for since A: It's an interesting read about the sad state of affairs in our public school cafeterias, and B: I don't have to eat school lunch. But irregardless, I want to try this again. I should be spending more energy on the things in my life that make me happy, not the frustrations that consume me instead. As Liz said, I don't always have to have someone that annoys me, though I usually do. And if those people should be associated with work, as they often are, I definitely shouldn't be thinking about them on the weekend. So, without further ado, and without trying to capture 8 months of blessings, current things I'm grateful for include:

* The sunny, warm weather of this past week and how DST tonight promises more to come
* Actually enjoying several of my co-workers and just how much the JAS trio can make me laugh
* Despite the annoyance of weekly gradings and early Saturday morning wake-ups, I like my part-time teaching job because I get to teach and I'm a really, really good teacher. And I have fun doing it. I really hope there's more of that in my future...
* Spaceballs is a funny movie :)
* Robert. Always Robert.
